Emília Perez is the head of department and assistant professor at the Department of Translation Studies, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, Slovakia. Her principal field of interest is audiovisual translation and media accessibility, focusing mainly on subtitling for the deaf and hard of hearing. In terms of research, she is presently working on a survey examining audiovisual training and competences in Europe. She is editor and co-editor of several publications on AVT and media accessibility in Slovakia. She is a member of the Executive Board of the European Master’s in Translation Network, leader of the EMT working group on AVT and media accessibility training, member of the ESIST, and besides the Bridge venture, she is a member of the scientific board of the Journal of Audiovisual Translation.
Ivana Hostová, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Slovakia
Ivana Hostová is a literary critic, translator, editor and translation studies scholar based at the Institute of Slovak Literature of Slovak Academy of Sciences. In research and translation, she mainly focuses on contemporary poetry, her most recent book rendition being Donna Stonecipher’s Model City (2015) published by Skalná ruža in 2019. Her editorial projects include Communication, Compliance and Resistance in Inter-Contextual Encounters – a special issue of World Literature Studies journal (2020; co-edited with Mária Kusá) or Identity and Translation Trouble (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2017). A selection of her papers on contemporary Slovak poetry Medzi entropiou a víziou [Between entropy and vision] came out in FACE publishing house in 2014. She is a member of European Society for Translation Studies and BASEES.
Soňa Hodáková, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, Slovakia
Soňa Hodáková is as an assistant professor at the Department of Translation Studies at the Faculty of Arts of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. She lectures on translation, interpreting and psychosocial aspects of interpreting. She also has a postgraduate degree in psychology. In her research she focuses on psychological and cognitive aspects of interpreting, e.g. stress, effort, working memory and motivation. She works as a freelance translator and conference interpreter for domestic and international companies. She is a member of the examining committee for court interpreters at the Institute of Interpreting in Nitra.
Francesca Raffi, University of Macerata, Italy
Francesca Raffi is a Research Fellow in English translation at the University of Macerata (Italy) where she has been teaching English language and translation at undergraduate and postgraduate levels since 2015. She holds a PhD in English for Special Purposes and Audiovisual Translation and she is a Chartered Linguist (Education and Language Specialist) of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (UK). Since 2016, she has been collaborating with the Department of Translation Studies, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra (Slovakia) and since 2017 with the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures, University of Liverpool (UK), where she became an Honorary Fellow in January 2019.
